The basic difference between my Publishing and Self-Publishing services is that I publish under the name Allbook Books, whereas if I help you self-publish it is freelance work that has no direct affiliation with Allbook Books.
Why the distinction? When helping someone to self-publish the essential decisions, artistic choices, and content are ultimately up to the self-publisher, even though it is typically a collaborative process. Whereas if the work is being published by Allbook Books it is certainly a joint process because I care deeply about what Allbook Books publishes. The work itself tends to be similar: layout; cover design; editorial and thematic suggestions; proofreading; and overall coordinating with a printer.
Please be aware that as a small press I have virtually no distribution, so typically an author will need to do some leg-work promoting the book
I have experience working with first-time as well as seasoned authors. Books can be perfect bound, wire bound, or saddle-stitched (stapled). Short-run saddle-stitched “chapbooks” (from 4 to 40 pages) are an economical way to produce a book.
I can also help freelance with specific parts of your project: literary consultations; cover design; layout; editorial advice; helping you find the right printer for your book. My over 9 years of publishing experience includes working with a variety of printers from digital to offset.
Need a flyer to promote your event or reading? I can design and provide PDF and hard-copy fliers to help you promote your project.
And, as a writer and artist I can (typically) relate to the author in a helpful and personable manner. Please inquire before sending unsolicited manuscripts. Thanks!
